221 | Dr. Andrew Wilson – The Scare Campaign We Had To Have

“Housing markets shouldn’t be leading monetary policy; they’re a response to monetary policy.” — Dr Andrew Wilson

Folks, our guest for this week is Dr Andrew Wilson, Chief Economist at My Housing Market, who is sounding more bullish than bearish when it comes to Australia’s property market and overall economic outlook!

To give you an idea, Dr Wilson provides comprehensive property market insights and is a highly-regarded and prolific housing market speaker, as well as a keynote presenter for the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) and an appointed housing market expert and adviser to the Federal Government funded Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network. 207 | Pete Wargent – The Real Story Behind the Charts

Folks, The Summer Series continues, this time in the shadow of Christmas… BUT that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped gifting very special guests!!

Joining us today is no stranger to property investment or The Property Couch… Pete Wargent!!

You might remember him back on Episode 139 | Pete Wargent, Multimillionaire at Age 33: How did he do it?

And that title explains a lot of what Pete’s about — achieving financial independence. And, yep, he personally did it for himself at the ripe age of 33 too.

To give you an idea of Pete’s background: during his professional career, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London and was previously a Director at the ‘Big 4’ accounting firm, Deloitte. He indeed walks the talk when it comes to investing and he gratefully parked his career in accountancy, having achieved early financial freedom, as detailed in his first best-selling book, Get a Financial Grip: a simple plan for financial freedom.

And he’s here to talk all things data, the future of the Australian property market and the impacts of Labor’s proposed changes to Negative Gearing, as outlined in his recent report.

Here’s what you can expect…

Stand Out Quote from the Ep…

“Labor’s policy is now solving a problem that’s been solved.”
–
Pete Wargent

022 | Q&A – Building & Pest Inspection, Rentvesting and Next Wage Growth Hotspot

Its Questions and Answers time! Thanks for all the suggestions on new topics to cover in this podcast. For today’s episode, Bryce Holdaway and Ben Kingsley will be addressing questions from:

  • Building and Pest Inspection question from Mark : How do I find a good quality building and pest inspector and with the property market being so hot with auctions at the moment, how do I ensure I don’t burn through my deposit money when constantly missing out at auctions?  I could end up wasting thousands on inspections until I actually win at auction! Should I try doing it myself and find a friend or family member with some building knowledge or use one of the smartphone apps?
  • Rentvesting question from Ryan : What are your thoughts on the property investor him or herself to buy and live in their own PPR or to rent? Obviously both have advantages, a place to call home or the ability to keep investing with out loosing potential borrowing capacity.
  • Next Wage Growth Hotspot from David : As mentioned on previous podcasts, investors will want to avoid “glass ceilings” in terms of capped wage growth in certain areas.  Given the changing Australian economy (more knowledge-based), are there particular areas of Australia in which you expect to see wage growth occurring?
