Nancia is a Meriam (Magaram), Wuthathi and Bindal Juru woman who was born in Brisbane and raised in Gladstone, Queensland. She has more than twenty years’ experience in media production, communications, entertainment, the arts and government policy. A former journalist, Nancia worked with National Indigenous Television (NITV) and as Head of Communications for the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence in Redfern, Sydney… and she now currently runs her own freelance communications consultancy company Amneris Pty Ltd.

And, yep… Nancia’s also a property investor (she’s bought and sold 5 properties at that!)… and she’s here to improve the financial literacy of Indigenous Australians AND spread the word Why Financial Inclusion Matters…

In today’s brand new episode, we chat with TPC listener Keren White about the Wake-Up Call that shook up her thinking and demanded she change her money habits for good.

You see, prior to the hard blow of death, Keren White and her husband Terence had been pretty cruisey about life…

… and this was also true of their money habits.

They took holidays whenever they wanted to.

They overspent, even though they had a budget in place.

They’d use ’emergency cash’ they’d put away for their car on a weekend getaway instead… after all, the car was fine… and they deserved a break from working so hard, right?

They lived for today.

And they weren’t particularly stretched…

If anything, they were doing kinda fine, really…

But then something happened that changed all this.

And you’re about to hear exactly why this Wake-Up Call became the catalyst needed to prioritise the future too.

 

Meet Sam .

Over four years ago, life was very different for Sam. For almost a decade she struggled with mental health and substance abuse… to the point where she was caught in a revolving door of psychiatric hospitalisation.

Since high school she has battled with mental health challenges, which continued for 9 years, while her struggles with illicit substances lasted for about 7 years…

Obviously, and quite understandably, you can imagine that financial matters weren’t exactly a priority. Let alone the thought of investing in property!

Fast forward to today, and Sam’s life is “we have no words” different. A PHENOMENAL turnaround you just have to hear to believe, folks!

Oh, and just FYI… Sam is a young single woman on a modest income who has never known ANY other property investors… yep, that’s ON TOP of her incredible backstory.

Top athletes often have a big spike in their income over their lifetime. That is, at the top of their game they’re looking at earning some serious coin… but beyond that… their income can plummet right down, sometimes to ground zero. And things get a bit tricky if the skills they possess aren’t necessarily transferable to the workforce too!

So, folks, what we want to tackle in today’s episode is this… how does a top athlete — or anyone on a fluctuating income for that matter — juggle a small window of time where they’ve got access to more cash than they’ll potentially earn in the future??
